The quality and success of a survivorship experience is impacted by knowledge, support, resources, and access. Everyone's experience is different. But all can benefit by thinking in terms of what the options are and how they may benefit patients, their families, and their caring friends.

Cancer Research
Cancer research has progessed greatly over the last few decades and many options are available to patients facing medical treatment. Many factors come into play when determining which treatment option is best for a given disease and patient. This includes considerations based on genetic testing, but also it depends on a patient's individual characteristics. Clinical research is designed to test new proposed treatments in actual cancer patients. Patients who participate in these trials should be commended for their contirbutions toward making treatments more effective for future patients.
